A map of southern Europe represents the countries situated in the southern peninsulas of the continent. It is also called the Iberian Peninsula which consists of the countries like  Albania, Andorra, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Cyprus, Gibraltar, Greece, Italy, Kosovo, Malta, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Portugal, San Marino, Serbia, Slovenia, Spain, Turkey, and Vatican City. In total, these are nineteen countries.

Although Europe is one of the smallest of all seven continents, it is still divided into four parts: eastern Europe, western Europe, northern Europe, and southern Europe. The total population living in this region is 151,747,580. The individual population of all the countries goes like this:

Southern Europe is one of the most densely populated regions in the continent and out of all the counties Instanbul, Turkey (8,963,431); Madrid, Spain (6,171,000); Milan, Italy (5,257,000); Barcelona, Spain (4,693,000); Rome, Italy (3,906,000); Naples, Italy (3,706,000); Athens, Greece (3,484,000); Lisbon, Portugal (3,075,000); Porto, Portugal (1,900,524); and Valencia, Spain (1,570,000). Are the most populous ones.

It is a misconception that English is the most used language in the region, in fact, the most commonly used languages are Italian, Spanish, Serbian, Croatian, Greek, Turkish, Portuguese, and Catalan Italian, Spanish, Serbian, Croatian, Greek, Turkish, Portuguese, and Catalan.

The languages which are not very common and are used only in certain parts of the region are Galician, Occitan, Hellenic, Albanian, Slovenian, Macedonian, Maltese, and Basque. When we talk about Europe, the three main counties that pop out to our heads are Spain (505,370 sq. km), Italy (301,340 sq. km), and Greece (131,957 sq. km). These are also the three largest counties on the continent.

The smallest ones are Vatican City (0.44 sq. km), San Marino (61 sq. km), and Malta (316 sq. km). Reading out these names, you must hear about the beauty of these places.
